Healthy Freezer Meals to Make Before Baby

Once your baby arrives, there’s no denying you’re going to get busy! Hanging out with friends is going to get a little more complicated, some of your clothes are still not going to fit (probably for a while, but that’s where I can help!), and you’re going to have less time to do everyday things like cooking. So to help you through the amazing transition to being a new mommy, here are some healthy FREEZER meals to make before baby!

Baked Ziti

Baked ziti is an Italian-American dish usually made with ziti macaroni, tomato sauce, and cheese, although it can also have meat, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. This baked casserole dish promises layers and layers of cheesy goodness that will surely satisfy your craving. I found a healthier version for us. 🙂 I would further modify it by using whole-wheat ziti pasta noodles.

Lasagna

Lasagna, like baked ziti, is an Italian-American dish made by layering lasagna with tomato sauce, cheese, meats like ground beef, pork, or chicken, and various vegetables like spinach and zucchini. As usual, I found another healthier version for us. 🙂

Chicken Stir-fry

The chicken stir-fry dish is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Although easy-to-make, it contains protein from the chicken meat and nutritional goodness from the various vegetables. Best of all, the stir-frying cooking technique preserves the flavor, color, and texture of the food while cooking it in only a small amount of oil! For a fun alternative taste, try using coconut oil when you cook it! Amazingly delicious.

Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti is a must-have at every party. So if you want to make a simple lunch or dinner festive and celebratory, simply boil some spaghetti pasta and whip out the spaghetti sauce! Bonus points go to this recipe because this spaghetti sauce can be used for lasagna, garlic bread, or ricotta-stuffed pasta shells. I would modify this recipe and use lean, ground turkey or super lean ground beef. 🙂

Veggie Burger

Who would’ve thought burgers could be delicious and nutritious? This burger recipe manages to keep the hamburger texture that other veggie burgers lack, while infusing it with veggies! However, it takes a bit more work than the other recipes, so I would probably double or triple the portions and freeze the extras to save time. 🙂
